Location Of Mombo Camp

Mombo Camp is located on Mombo Island, an extension of the northwestern end of Chief’s Island which effectually separates the Okavango Delta into east and west. The whole of Mombo and Chief’s Island fall within the Moremi Game Reserve. This zone is also marked for low concentration safari usage, making both Little Mombo and Mombo Camp incredibly exclusive and secluded. Environments here vary from secluded island sanctuaries with papyrus fringed channels to low sandy islands and dry grasslands where the vegetation and wildlife embellish. Here the larger mammals move in their numbers – offering some of the finest big game viewing in Africa. The sheer numbers and diversity of wildlife surrounding Mombo Camp all year round ensure that every guest has a breathtaking big game viewing experience: from herds of buffalo to the diminutive steenbok (a pretty dwarf antelope), to elephant, white rhino, southern giraffe, impala, blue wildebeest and Burchell’s zebra. Lion and leopard are found here; and even smaller predators like serval and side-striped jackal are sometimes seen.

Safari Experience At Mombo Camp

Renowned as one of the best game areas in Africa. A predator haven with frequent excellent sightings of Lion, Leopard. Wild Dog can be seen and inter-predator interaction is a feature. Plains game is prolific – Zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe and all the delta antelope are present in numbers. Year round birding is superb.
